Noticing changes in good time and taking countermeasures: tips and experiences (DG274)

What Julia learned on her own journey by effortlessly losing almost 10kg thanks to detox


In a previous episode, I talked about how I realized at the beginning of the year that I had gained 10kg almost unnoticed. Maybe it's not your weight that has changed, but you're experiencing increasingly uncomfortable joint pain or suddenly an allergy, or maybe you're experiencing morning stiffness, a bad mood, irritability or water retention.

In today's episode, I want to talk about what you can do to notice such subtle changes and prevent yourself from suddenly facing a major health problem.



In my case, it was almost 10kg more than the weight I had felt comfortable with for years. You might be wondering how I didn't notice this. Well, I just wasn't looking! I stopped putting myself on the scales. I bought clothes in a bigger size but pretended it didn't bother me. And then I simply stopped buying new clothes altogether, because then it wouldn't be noticeable.

Now you could say, of course, it doesn't matter, a few extra kilos don't matter. But the thing is, if I had waited a few more years, maybe it would have suddenly been 20 kg more? Maybe there would have been knee pain or hay fever on top of that. And maybe I would have said to myself: "I've come so far now, it's all too late anyway, I'll just leave it at that. I'm older now too. You don't have to be healthy anymore." But that's not my way!

I've now lost 9 kg almost effortlessly, have more energy, sleep great, fit into my pants again and feel great.

And that's why I want to encourage you today to pay attention to the little things. After all, several small things almost always add up to bigger things.

First and foremost, you need one important quality: to take yourself seriously. Taking care of yourself as if you were your own child. But also as if you were your own teacher or coach.

What else can you do to notice the little things?

My tips


- Ask yourself once a week: On a scale of 1-10, how do you feel physically / health-wise?
- Measure your body weight once a week
- Measure the most important blood values 1-2 times a year, such as CRP ultrasensitive, triglycerides, fasting glucose, vitamin D
- Ask your family (mother, partner) or best friend: do you notice anything different about me, has anything changed? And emphasize that they should be honest, because you may not be able to see it in yourself

And when you start to notice small changes or if you are already at the point where it is no longer small, but already manifest problems such as skin rashes, hay fever, exhaustion, overwork, joint pain, etc., then the time has come to act. Because the point is that things add up. What is small today can be much worse in 6 months' time. And the longer you wait, the more difficult it can become to solve it. Because you need a lot more drive!

What can you do?
