Taking supplements correctly: How to never forget them again (DG337)

Checklist, intake times and practical tips for everyday use

Many people take supplements, probiotics or vitamins, but are disappointed with the effect. In this episode, I explain why this is often not due to the products, but to regularity and everyday life.

You'll find out:

  • why supplements only work if they are really taken daily
  • why the perfect time to take them is less important than practicability
  • how a simple checklist can help you stick with it
  • when supplements are better taken on an empty stomach and when with food
  • which products make more sense in the morning, in the evening or around training

I share my personal tips from practice and show you how to integrate supplements into your everyday life so that they support you instead of stressing you out.

Many people tell me: "I take supplements, but somehow I don't feel anything."

When I ask them, they almost always say the same thing:
"Sometimes I take them, sometimes I forget. A few days yes, then again no."

And that's exactly the problem.

Why supplements often don't work

Most supplements require a certain level in the body. This means that they do not work selectively, but through regularity. If you take them too infrequently or irregularly, the effect will fail to materialize.

This is not a product problem, but an everyday problem.

Incidentally, I felt the same way.

The simplest solution: make it visible

The biggest game changer for me was a very simple checklist.

I wrote it down:

  • what supplements I'm taking at the moment
  • and ticked off every day what I had actually taken

Our brain loves ticking things off. It's like the old days with the golden Star in the booklet. It motivates you to keep at it.

Provide supplements instead of reminding

Another important point:Put your supplements where you take them. In the kitchen in the morning. In the bathroom for the evening.

The less you have to think about, the better it works.

Time of intake: think less complicated

One of the most frequently asked questions is:
"When should I take supplements? In the morning, in the evening, before or after a meal?"

My most important recommendation:
Take them when it fits into your daily routine.

Not taking them is always worse than taking them "imperfectly". Nevertheless, here are a few tried and tested guidelines from practice:

In the morning

  • Probiotics: ideally on an empty stomach or shortly before breakfast
If you have a sensitive stomach, it is better to take them with food
  • Activating products such as B vitamins or our Energy (Q10 and NADH+)
  • Vitamin C, preferably spread throughout the day

With meals

  • Fat-soluble vitamins such as vitamin D
  • Omega 3, better tolerated and less burping
  • Minerals, if not well tolerated on an empty stomach
  • I would also recommend our Vivora with meals

Midday or afternoon

  • Adaptogens such as ashwagandha
  • Products like Axis+

Evening

  • Magnesium for muscles and nervous system
  • L-glutamine for the regeneration of Intestinal mucosa
  • Collagen, ideally not directly with a meal
  • Bitter drops before going to bed for relaxation and better sleep

Important: Every body reacts differently. If something doesn't work, try another time.

Know why you are taking something

An often underestimated point: know what you are taking a supplement for.

If you understand what it is supposed to do in your body, you will also support the effect mentally. This is not mumbo jumbo, but well documented: Expectation, belief and body work together.

If you are unsure why something has been recommended to you, be sure to ask.

Conclusion

Supplements don't have to be complicated.

They have to be feasible.

  • Plan roughly
  • Use a checklist
  • Make it easy for yourself

Then supplements can really support you.
